Retailers are going on a shopping spree for causes.

Retailers are 7.6 times more likely to sponsor a cause than the average of all sponsors, making the category the most active sponsor across the cause landscape.

Pharmaceutical companies (6.7) and banks (4.5) are the second and third most active categories, according to IEG research.

Driven in part by its long-running support of museums and military veterans, Bank of America Corp. is the most active company sponsoring causes. Seventeen percent of causes with a sponsor in the financial services category report a partnership with the company.

The Coca-Cola Co.; Johnson & Johnson; Walt Disney Co.; and Time Warner, Inc. round out the list of the five most active sponsors of causes.
