Louis Oosthuizen knows the importance of a good night’s sleep.

The PGA Tour player and British Open champion transports a Stearns & Foster mattress from tournament to tournament as he travels the country facing off against the best players in the world.

So when Oosthuizen was unable to make arrangements to take his bed to the U.S. Open in University Place, Wash., he reached out to Tempur Sealy for help.

The solution: the company built him a new mattress.

“I bought my Stearns & Foster mattress before The Players Championship, and I’ve been taking it with me on the road to tournaments since then,” said Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion and runner up in the 2012 Masters. “When I was unable to make arrangements to bring it to Washington for the U.S. Open, Stearns & Foster came to the rescue.”

Once the team at Stearns & Foster’s Lacey, Wash. plant received the specifications for Oosthuizen’s preferred mattress, they went to work.

“Elite athletes like Louis know that a great night’s sleep is essential to performing in competition, so we were happy to help out prior to such an important tournament,” said Rob Cash, director of manufacturing for Tempur Sealy’s production facility in Lacey. “Our team of craftsmen and women were proud to build Louis’ mattress exactly to the high standards that all Stearns & Foster mattresses are built do. It’s identical to the mattresses golfers and golf fans across the country can buy.”

While every Stearns & Foster mattress is hand-signed by a master craftsman, Oosthuizen’s mattress had a personalized message.

“Louis—Good luck on the U.S. Open—Christine Hoyt.”

Tempur Pedic is in the second year of a three-year partnership with the PGA Tour.
